This Privacy Policy explains how the MOBH Step Counter app (“the App”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles your information. The App is designed to work entirely on your device and does not send your step data to any external server controlled by the developer.
MOBH Step Counter is a pedometer app that:
The App does not require you to create an account and does not collect or send your personal data to the developer’s own servers.
The App uses your device’s motion/step sensors (e.g. Physical activity / Activity recognition) to detect and count steps. Based on this, the App stores:
This information is stored locally on your device only and is used solely to show your daily steps, your history, and goal progress inside the App.
The App allows you to customize motivational quotes and some display or behavior settings. These are also stored locally on your device and are only used by the App to customize what you see.
While developing and debugging the App, we may look at system logs (logcat) on your device when you explicitly connect it to a computer for debugging (for example using adb). This is a manual, local process and not part of normal app operation.
The published version of the App does not automatically send debug logs or analytics to the developer.
All step history, goals, quotes, and settings are stored in local app storage on your device (for example SharedPreferences or local files).
The App does not send your step data to any server controlled by the developer. There is:
The App lets you export and import your step history as a CSV file
(semi-colon separated, e.g. 2025.12.31;8950;).
When you export:
We do not have access to your exported CSV unless you explicitly send it to us.
The credits screen may include a donation link, for example: https://paypal.me/manonbrokenhorse .
If you tap this link, you will be taken to an external website or app (such as PayPal). Any data you provide there is handled directly by that third party under its own privacy policy, not by this App.
Permission: android.permission.ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION
Why we use it: to read your device’s step sensor so we
can count steps and show your daily totals and history.
What we do not do:
The App may run a foreground service with a persistent notification to keep counting your steps reliably in the background. This is required by newer Android versions to let the App access motion sensors when not in the foreground.
MOBH Step Counter is not specifically targeted at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require registration or accounts, we generally do not have a way to identify the age of users.
Your data is stored locally on your device, using standard Android app storage mechanisms. The security of your data therefore depends largely on your device’s security (for example lock screen, device encryption, and who has physical access to your phone).
We do not transmit your step data to our own servers, which reduces the risk of remote data breaches involving your step history.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or changes to legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we may also highlight them in the app description or within the App.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how the App handles your data, you can contact the developer at:
